Saved To Serve

Today, after an awesome weekend in His presence at Southbrook, I wanted to post a blog after a month (plus) long hiatus. We have a new building going up to accommodate all the people flooding the church. You know, so we don’t have to have a dozen or so services on a weekend. (which is a blessing, don’t get me wrong) One interesting factoid I learned is that our current building has scripture and people's names written on the floors and walls. Now of course you cannot see it after carpet and paint, but every where it is written on the foundation of the church. Cool huh? Well what does this have to do with my post you may ask? Read on my friend. This weekend we were offered the honor of writing scripture and names of people we want to come to know Christ on the foundation of our new worship building.

It was awesome! I wrote one of me and my Grandfather's favorite passages from Romans – 12:1

And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.

Before I wrote that with a sharpie in my hand, I was down on my knees on the floor about to write it then suddenly I was hit with something else, or rather someone else. I could feel the presence of a good friend and brother in Christ with me, Adam Doiron. It has been a little over a year since he went home to be with Jesus but I can still hear his words today, “I have been saved to serve”. I believe he wrote that in his journal while on mission in Germany or at an encounter retreat our church hosts. Anyway, that statement really stuck with me and I strive to achieve the same level of spiritual maturity that Adam had been graced with. So with that being said I think it will be awesome when we are worshiping and hearing God’s word that we will literally be standing on the rock of God's word and standing in faith on Adam’s inspired words. I thank God every day for giving us the opportunity to serve in such an awesome church. I also thank you Adam, we love you and your servant’s heart.

Thanks for sharing that. Dee showed me the quote in the building. It feels nice knowing Adam had a part in tis dedication too.
