Ok, it's official, I am now a slacker. But let's be honest, in one way or another, we are all slack in one or more areas of our lives. I will explain further what I mean by that later in this post.
It is funny, our pastor @ Southbrook even called me out last week. Not really, but he noticed my disappearance from my regular postings on his site and he saw the entry on my blog titled "I Have Been Slack". So with that shame out of the way I will say this: I make no excuses, no apologies, and, to be honest, I am not even going to try anymore. Why am I not going to try any more you ask? I heard someone say a few weeks ago "trying is failing with honor" and it really stuck with me. Think about it, like a New Year’s resolution we often say we are going to try to do something but often lack the follow-through. We say things like I am going to try to spend more time with my wife or family, I am going to try to lose weight, quit smoking, or invite a co-worker to church but how often do we actually do those things. You can just about insert anything into the phrase "I am going to try to ....".
In the great words of the Jedi Master and Philosopher Yoda "Do, or do not. There is no try." If you saw Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, Luke did not believe the Force could lift a massive object. He was proven wrong when Yoda telekinetically lifted the X-wing fighter and placed it on dry land. Still Luke was unwilling to admit or accept the wisdom that was offered, and believe that what he saw was true - he did not believe that he could move the ginormous object ; that is why he failed.
After thinking about it I have taken the word "try" out of my vocabulary altogether, now I do. So with that being said I will do a post at least once a month. Seems like a good interval since it has been a month since my last post. If you want to hear more about the topic of "Do, or do not. There is no try", or as Pastor Rob calls it "Facing the Giants" check out his podcast here.
Do have a good week!
